Beyond Zen

Beyond Zen brings a down to earth western perspective of both Buddhism and Chinese Medicines, balancing what we can find in eastern thought without taking ourselves too seriously.

Beyond Zen's Power of Gratitude...How To post struck me personally, both as an improvement to my goal in my Thanks post, and also how gratitude can be an accessible first bridge to find spirituality in meditation.

Beyond Zen reflects on Eastern thought without taking itself or ourselves or the message so seriously we lose balance of effortlessness and a touch of humor. We are, most of us, engaged in a material world and must strike a balance. The robes and a real disconnect are for retirement, if ever.

Soka Gakkai reminds New Years Day is a day to pray for peace

"I have received a hundred slabs of steamed rice cake and a basket of fruit. New Year's Day marks the first day, the first month, the beginning of the year, and the start of spring. A person who celebrates this day will accumulate virtue and be loved by all, just as the moon becomes full gradually, moving from west to east, and as the sun shines more brightly, traveling from east to west."
--New Year's Gosho

Ecomenical Buddhism

Ecomenical Buddhism

Buddhism (and Taoism) explained by this Chinese author for the Western Christian, exploring what unites Buddhism to other Western religions. Universalistic in its syncretism or ecumenism — proposing a Christian, even Jesus can be a Buddhist. A Buddhist, even a Bodhisattva or a Buddha, can be a traditional, orthodox, Christian as well.
